CHARACTERISTICS OF SODIUM-CALCIUM GLASS
Sodium calcium glass, one of the silicate glasses. It is mainly composed of silica, calcium oxide and sodium oxide. Such as commonly used flat glass, bottles, cans, light bulbs, etc.
Sodium oxide increases the thermal expansion coefficient of glass and decreases the thermal stability, chemical stability and mechanical strength of glass, so the proportion can not be introduced too much, generally not more than 18%. Sodium oxide is usually introduced into glass production by soda.
The main function of calcium oxide in glass is to increase the chemical stability and mechanical strength of glass. However, when the content of calcium oxide is high, it can increase the crystallization tendency of glass and make the glass brittle.
